one for you, one for me

There are a lot of good people who share an August birthday with me. Unfortunately one of them is no longer with us.

Today would have been Chris’ 26th birthday.
Bling!

Trying to bring some humor in the back office.

Chris was one of those people who made the atmosphere a lot brighter, even in Corporate America. I enjoyed the time I spent with him at work, even going into the smoking section of the employee cafeteria to have lunch with him (though my asthma would kick in and my jacket reeked).

My friend Dong created an amazing tribute on Flickr to honor a friend he lost. He calls it One for me. One for you. In the pics, he shows two cups of coffee sitting either next to or across from each other; one of the cups has been partially consumed but one remains full. I absolutely love this.

We used to try and meet outside of work, but our schedules were so different that it never really came about. So when he made it to Lola’s for my 25th birthday, I was thrilled.

In honor of Chris’ birthday, I’ll be going out to a bar to order one of his favorite drinks: a Bombay Sapphire martini with an olive.

I miss you, buddy. First round will be on me.

FYI, The flickr link is dead….
Yeah, I miss that dude too. He was someone you meet once in your life that you honestly know. “This person is pure!”

I will miss my friend Chris………………………….

Red: [narrating] I find I’m so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it’s the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope
